Kristin Cavallari's Short Hairstyle:

Just shy of turning 20, Kristin Cavallari is the epitome of the California Girl.

Kristin Cavallari's Short Haircut

To Get Kristin's Short Style:

Kristin's choppy chin-length bob is a pinch to style.

Wash hair with a straightening shampoo and conditioner, then blot with a towel to remove excess moisture.

Work a dollop of straightening balm through damp hair and comb through.

Part hair to one side and use a large flat brush to pull strands straight as you blow-dry your hair.

Start the brush at the nape of your neck and push hair forward around the base of your head, flattening your tresses.

Repeat until hair is completely dry, then take a couple dabs of pomade and roughen up the ends to create a piecey texture.

New Short Hairstyle Pictures

I have had long hair for most of my but I have to say that I am loving the shorter styles that are making their appearance early in 2007. I have cut my own hair shorter, more of a medium cut than short and I am thinking I may go shorter after looking at how great some of the celebrities are looking in their short hairstyles.

I have posted more of my favorite cuts

2007 - The Year of the Short Bob Haircut

Here is a style that is sassy, elegant, sophisticated and playful. The perfect style for every occasion is a short bob haircut.

2007 Bob Haircut

The short bob pictured above tapers in towards the face and hugs the facial features along the cheeks and forehead.

It is a style that is being adopted by the celebrities in Hollywood at a rapid pace.

Why? I figure the reason is 2 fold, the look is great and the style is very easy to maintain.

I guess many celebrities are too busy paryting it up and just don't have the time to maintain their hair given their hectic social schedule.

For normal women, the short bobcut is great because of our hectic "real lives" - Great style, easy to maintain. Hey, even us with young kids can look fabulous on a daily basis!

Made it Through Another Christmas

Wow! Today was incredibly hectic.

The kids were up at 5:00, excited to see what Santa brought them. I was (and still am) exhausted from getting up with the kids after staying up till 1:00am doing some last minute gift wrapping.

After enjoying the kids tear open their gifts it was time to get myself looking my best for dinner at the in-laws house.

I had about 20 minutes to have shower and style my hair.

Today was nothing fancy. A partial blow dry and the remainder of my styling was allowing my hair to air dry during the hour drive to the in-laws house.

Nobody noticed my lack of styling, so for your remaining holiday festivities don't fret too much over looking absolutely perfect. I was a bit worried what everyone might think of my hair today but it turns out that nobody (other than me) is really concerned about me having the perfect hair styling. It was a nice visit and an amazing meal.

Now, I must get some rest to tackle the mess around the house

Holiday's and Hair

Here it is, Christmas Eve and we just got home for a quick lunch after visiting friends this morning and I have to tell you that the simpler the hair style at this time of year the better.

I was up at 6:00 am trying to get the perfect look and experiment with new twists and curls in my hair. I should have just left things with my simple straight style. In other words, I should have listened to my own advice: Don't try new styles on a day where you have to head out.

Just a little bit of advice for you today and for the remainder of the holidays. Try a new hair style on a calm day where there is nothing else going on. Make some notes on what you did to achieve the look and then do another practice run with your hair before a formal get together. The stress of trying something new on event day is simply not worth it.

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Short Haircut Idea for 2007

Short hair is the style for '07.

Here is a picture of a sassy and elegant style that suitable for both casual and formal occassions.

Day to day maintenance of this style is incredibly simple. A touch of mousse, a brush, a hair dryer and 10 minutes of your time. That's what I love about a short haircut, the time savings is fabulous!

Short Haircut Idea for 2007

Here is a very beautiful short haircut idea that you could try for 2007.

Charlotte Church Short Hairstyle

I really love the playful yet elegant look of this short to medium style.

To achieve the look, try accenting highlights in your hair. Highlights are not necessary for this style to look great but it really gives your hair an edge if you do decide on highlighting. For daily styling not much effort is required to achieve this look.

Use mousse while your hair is sitll damp and style using your fingers while blow drying with a medium heat setting. If your hair won't co-operate with you using mousse alone try using a firm hold gel.

If a short style is new for you, practise styling your hair a few times before you have a formal event to go to. This is sound advice for any new style.

'Tis that time of year of parties so I might not have a new style up for a while. If I don't update in the next few days, have an amazing Christmas (or whatever holiday you are celebrating)!

Achieving this look is quite simple:

1. Remove moisture from your hair but avoid completely drying.
2. Apply an egg sized glob of mousse and using your fingers, part your hair above your left eye.
3. Brush or comb to remove any tangles (if any)
4. Use a 1 inch ceramic flat iron to straighten hair
5. As you pull the hair iron down, use a slight inwards twisting motion

Hairstyles - Bangs are Big

If you are looking for a new haircut, bangs are huge.

The new look emerging within celebrity circles is a blast from the past.

Cutting mod style bangs from the punk rock era into your hair is making a stylish sweep with celebrities.

The look is more refined but the underlying style is coming from the late '70s and early '80s mod squad look.

Bangs are in, even with long hairstyles.

I think bangs look great! If you aren't sure bangs are for you check out the look with a virtual hairstyling tool that will allow you to upload your picture and try before you cut.

Before I adopt any new hairstyle I eliminate the risk by using this virtual hairstyler provided by thehairstyler.com.

I have the free trial version posted on my page but I do subscribe to the service that allows me to upload my own image into their software. For the $14 or so that they charge for a 3 month subscription it's really worth the money.

Since I discovered this software I no longer have those "bad spa" experiences, you know the ones where the stylist didn't quite understand the look you wanted and you end up with an embarrassing hairdo.

Try it out, you'll be glad you did!

2007 Hairstyles Trends

One trend appearing on the red carpet for 2007 is dark hair. Celebrities are now coloring their hair from blonde to brunette.

Here is are before and after pictures of Keira Knightley:

2007 Hairstyle - Keira Knightley

I must say that I am loving this trend. I am a natural brunette.

This is simply awesome! My natural hair color is in for 2007, no coloring required!

Solia Pink Hair Straightening Iron - Double Win

I was hunting around the internet for some last minute gift ideas for myself and I came across the Solia Pink hair straightener. I love it because of the money they are raising for breast cancer research.

I just posted my review of the Solia Pink flat iron here

If you have anybody on your gift list, you might want to consider this as it is a high quality product that supports a very important charity.

Janet Jackson Makes it Official Short Hair Is In

After Britney Spears made her appearance with short hair a few weeks ago on the Letterman show I thought it might be Paris' influence rubbing off on her but now we have another celebrity trimming her hair.

Janet Jackson appeared at the Billboard Awards showing off her new bob cut. I think it looks quite good!

I had been debating whether I should go for a short haircut but no longer am I debating, I am going for it!

Cutting My Hair Short

I think I am in crisis over what to do.

I see more people cutting their hair short but to part with my long locks is more difficult than I thought.

Once it's gone, it will take months to grow back. What if I don't like it?

Well, I better keep trying that virtual hair style tool I found the other day. The only problem I have with the tool is the fact that unless I pay a small subscription fee, I can't upload my own picture into the tool.

Hmmm, I guess it's only $14.95 to use with my own picture and that will give me a 3 month membership that will allow me to upload different pictures of myself. Yeah, I think I am going to do because I really need to see what short hair will actually look like on me.

Off to do some Christmas shopping now but I will take some screenshots of how I look and post them for you.

Please feel free to post your comments with your thoughts on short hair styles.

Britney Spears Short Hairstyle

Oh my Britney, what are you doing? Maybe it's time to stop hanging out with Paris.

Yeah, Madonna did the sexy shock thing back in the '80's. Come on girl, it's getting old! Put some clothes on would ya?

I recently updated my website mentioning that short haircuts are going to be the rage in 2007 because of Britney's appearance on the Letterman show in November. But could Britney's latest appearance all over the internet sans underwear cause women to reconsider styling their hair the same way?
Likely will have no impact on the trend of short haircuts.

OK, I don't really have a direction with this blog post.

I guess this is more of a rant.

Britney Spears was supposed to be a role model for young girls and it was a refreshing change.

Now she has pulled this stunt. What message does that send to the young girls that look up to her?

What about the parents that allowed their daughters to listen to Britney's music and look up to her as a role model.

I think Britney is severely lacking good judgement and ought to be ashamed of the message she is sending to girls around the world!

OK, the short hairstyle looks great but I must rant again - Put your clothes on Britney!!!

Latest Style Trends, The Bob Cut is Back

It looks like 2007 is set to be the year of the bob cut.

How do I know this?

It’s simple to find out what the new trends are going to be, watch the celebrities.

Celebrity watching will shed light on what the new fashion and beauty trends are going to be. Here we are, with 2007 fast approaching and some celebrities are making their appearance on the scene showing off their new look.

On Monday November 6, Britney Spears makes a brief surprise appearance on the Letterman Late Show with her short new bob do.

View her new short style here

I think her new look is fabulous! In fact, watching her brief appearance on Monday night has me thinking that I would try a short haircut.

Let’s think about it for a moment. Short hair is faster to dry, easier to maintain and looks great. A new look and more time, isn’t it worth considering? I think so.

The only thing stopping me is not knowing exactly how I will look and the thoughts of having to grow my hair back frighten me a bit. Hey, wait a minute… I almost forgot about that really great “try before you cut” tool I found the other day, the virtual hairstyle tool, I think I will try a few different short styles on before I take the plunge.

Hairstyle Trends to Watch

Soft curls are the wave of the future. Smooth tresses that are irresistibly soft are what you should be going for if you rock longer hair this season. Curly and wavy hair are in and there are a lot of products that can give your hair volume and bounce. We will see sexy, permed hair and also some finger waves. If using a curling iron, don't forget to spritz tresses with a heat-protecting product before applying heat.

Spike up your hair for a trendy new look that can be slicked down or pulled up for a bold variation on the pixie cut.
We are going to see strong lines that have added softness and geometric cuts that combine different looks. A great style is when you walk through the door and everyone looks and thinks 'wow!'
This short 'do is a bold choice if you want to exude serious attitude this year!

Vibrant reds are coming in strong. Whether it is all-over color or just light touches, the crimson hue is back in a big way. Dark, black shades with a hint of auburn underneath will be popular. Combine that color with a strong and straight cut for a fashion-forward look. Also remember to take advantage of treatments that nurture and protect damaged or dehydrated hair.

I will try to find some pictures to show you in a future posting. Not much time right now, kids are acting up!

Making the most of different hairstyles

Try these tips and tricks of the trade to bring out the best in your hair's natural texture to create an amazing hairstyle.

Anyone who has baby-fine hair and has to listen to her girlfriend with a thick, curly hairstyle complain is likely to think, "Get over it, already!" Still, embracing what nature gave you does require a trick or two. Here are some tips to start you down the path to hair happiness.

Super-Fine Hair
It's a fact: Most women with super-fine hair long for more locks.
Volume is the number one request of women nationwide, and no one
acquires supermodel status without a significant, head-tossing mane.

Celebrity hairstyle secret: Half of Hollywood has faux hair in the form of extensions or wigs. Start with this mantra: I'm proud of my soft, touchable locks.
Now, ask yourself how far you'll go to make the most of them. The system uses ultrasound to meld the keratin-like bases of human hair attachments to your real strands, and it can take locks from barely there to super-thick in about 2-1/2 hours.

If you don't have lots of cash to trash, get the best cut for your hair type.
Blunt is best, say top stylists, but you can and should add some layers, which create movement. Keeping the length above the collarbone or shorter helps too, as does asymmetrical styling. Always use volumizing or thickening shampoos, conditioners and stylers. For instance, PureOlogy's Thickening Masque contains highly refined volcanic ash to increase the diameter of the hair without weighing it down. The trick with most volumizers is to avoid using too much and to concentrate products at the roots. Musts to avoid: Growing hair super-long, weighing down ends with products, and over-conditioning locks.

Curly & Frizzy Hair
You might be surprised that this one is a no-brainer. With all the new smoothing and frizz-fighting products on store shelves, all you need is a cut with lots of layers to control bulk and movement, and the right products. Just mix smoothing balms and frizz-fighters together and distribute evenly on damp hair. Use your diffuser attachment when drying and you'll avoid frizz. Because curly hair has less shine, add a shine serum over the top. Haircolor also boosts sizzle and helps keep the cuticle smooth and compact.

When the weather is humid, look for smoothing shampoos, conditioners and styling products labeled "anti-humectant," and hair won't go wild during the day.

An old school trick: Comb through a straightening balm, then remove the ends of a clean aluminum can and smooth your hair over it to dry, securing ends in place.
To keep some curl, reach for a curling wand; the diameter of the tool determines the size of your reshaped curl.

Coarse & Wavy Hair
Many of the same styling tricks for curly and frizzy hair apply here, but coarse needs a special cut. Ends should not be razored, but scissor-cut so they lie flat. Mid-length cuts best control this hair type. When coarse hair is cut super-short, it tends to pop up at the sides. Make hair behave by applying perming solution to 'poppy' ends and comb it through before processing with the hair smoothed down with saran wrap. The new Nioxin Smoothing System for medium-to-coarse, unruly textured hair might be just what you've been looking for. Waves can look fabulously retro when you comb through a heavy-hold gel and use your hands or long clips to mold and shape hair into deep waves. Once hair has dried, smooth pomade over the top after liquefying it between your palms. Avoid long, blunt cuts.

Straight & Boring Hair
Most women with this hair type don't realize that it can be as versatile as super-curly locks. The same way you can wear curls in any style from natural to straight, reverse the processes and you can do the same with straight hair. Check out body perms, as opposed to chemical straighteners. Whereas curls can be blown straight, straight hair can be curled up in a variety of ways.Ask your stylist to add layers and cut-in texture, and your locks instantly come to life. If you wear it super-long, get heavier layers through the front. Strong, geometric lines also make the most of this hair type, which will fall right into place. Add further excitement with color or change the texture any way you want. A hot roller set is the fastest way to change your look for a day. The biggest no-no: straight and center parted — that's boring with a capital B!

Virtual Hairstyle Tool, Try Before You Get Hacked

Wouldn’t it be great if you could try on a hairstyle before going to the salon? Wouldn’t that save those harsh feelings you get when your stylist does not fully listen to what you want! You know what I am talking about, the hair stylist that feels they deserve some creative liberties with your hair and proceed to chop and hack your hair into some kind of failed artistic experiment! It’s your hair not theirs! They should practice new styles on friends.

Quite often when a bad hair cut happens when you visit your stylist it is not your hair dresser experimenting, it is usually a miscommunication. Rather than trying to explain to your stylist what you want, wouldn’t it be great to have a “virtual hairstyle”, print the picture and get EXACTLY what you want?

Yes! That would be great and I found a free hair style tool that you can look at different styles and colors. I just posted a page to my site here: Virtual hairstyle tool

Play around with it and have a look at virtually endless style options and hair colors. I spent over 2 hours trying out different styles last night!

Hairstyle Tips

Half up/half down 'dos, like the one often worn by screen siren Angelina Jolie, aren't just for stars. Mauro Paolacci, a senior stylist at Tiberias Spa and Salon in Lakewood, NJ, says copying the look is easy. "Start with cleaned and conditioned hair," he says. "To get soft curl, put in Velcro ® rollers or curl hair in sections using a jumbo iron."

To style, divide locks into two halves. Starting behind the ears, make a subtle part across the crown. Let the back half drape down or over the shoulders.

For the front, use your fingers to loosely comb it back toward the crown. Take a section in your left hand, twist it toward the right, and pin in place. Then, take the section on the opposite side, twist it toward the left, lay it over the other section, and pin into place. "Be sure to put the pins in from underneath so you can't see them." That way, you'll look like a celebrity from every angle.
