Flat Irons for Short Haircuts

I recommend using a flat iron with a narrow plate width for use with short hairstyles. If you try to use a wide flat iron with short hair you will feel very frustrated and want to return the flat iron.

A narrow plate width provides better control and "fine tuning". If you try to use a wide flat iron on a short style, it will be difficult to style your hair effectively because of the fact the wider iron covers a greater amount of hair and could cause damage due to over-exposure to the heat of the flat iron.

For short haircuts using a 1 inch flat iron is best and I also recommend that you use a quality ceramic flat iron because a ceramic iron is less porous, it allows the iron to glide across your hair rather than pulling and snagging.

I still stand by what I mentioned before regarding quality, you get what you pay for. If you will be using a flat iron only on rare occassions and you have coarse hair, you can get away with spending less on a flat iron.

Remember, I only recommend you buy a less expensive hair iron if your usage is only occassional.
