Let's face it, celebrities are the style and fashion trend setters. While the fashion runways influence hair and fashion styles, it is what the trendy Hollywood elite adopt that truly dictate what's hot and what's not. Heading off to the stylist for a short haircut seems to be the new celebrity trend.

With 2007 fast approaching, as with every New Year, styles are changing. Early this month (November 2006), Britney Spears (check out her new hairstyle here) made a brief appearance on the Letterman show sporting her new bob haircut.

Maintaining a Short Hairstyle

The obvious advantage of cutting your hair short is less time in the morning styling your mane. Less time blow dryer but you should expect to spend more time and money at the salon.

Short styles require more time with your stylist because the cut will tend to grow out of shape faster. Expect a trip to the hair salon every 3 to 6 weeks.

Less time spent day-to-day grooming

Short hair tends to be healthier - Dead and split ends are trimmed off regularly

Gives a youthful look (longer hair tends to give effect of pulling your face down)

Short hair note : Make sure you ask your stylist what product they used after cutting your hair, this will make for ease in daily styling.

Daily Styling Tips

After your shower:
1. Leave your hair damp. Use a towel to remove excess moisture but avoid completely drying.
2. For straight or bob styles, apply mouse to damp hair and then style with a flat iron.
3. For short hair with waves, apply gel to damp hair and style with fingers and hair dryer.
4. For a slicked back look apply gel, then dry. Consider using a hair wax to finish off for a shiny look

1. Flat Irons
The hairstyle emerging with the celebrities for 2007 is short straight hair. To achieve a look such as Britney Spears you will need a 1 inch to 1.5 inch flat iron.
